I’m going to be restructuring this site in the next few weeks, so there may not be any new tabs. I’ll be working on them, and post them all at once, rather than one at a time. I think it will be easier to have them all in one place. In the mean time, here are the existing tabs:
Typographic Banjo Poster
- March 16, 2010 – 9:11 pm -
As much as I wish I could say I do nothing but play banjo all day, I actually make my living as a graphic designer. As with anything, when you design all day for other people you have to find ways to keep it fun. So it’s only natural I marry my favorite arts – design and banjos! As a personal project I’ve been working on some banjo related posters, so I thought I’d start sharing those here. Because it’s just not enough for me to have banjos hanging off the walls, I wanted some banjo art up there too. For this first poster I’ve used a quote from the wonderful Mark Twain, specifically from the San Francisco Dramatic Chronicle, published 6/23/1865. You’ve probably seen it before, I think it’s pretty well known among banjo players. It reads:
“When you want genuine music – music that will come right home to you like a bad quarter, suffuse your system like strychnine whiskey, go right through you like Brandreth’s pills, ramify your whole constitution like the measles, and break out on your hide like the pin-feather pimples on a picked goose, – when you want all this, just smash your piano, and invoke the glory-beaming banjo!”
